Incorporating real leaf material in glass …
As a master gardener, I often admire the natural patterns and shapes that Mother Nature has created in leaf form.
In order to render these leaves in glass, I apply selected powdered glass, delicately transferring the powder covered fresh leaves to the kiln shelf, and then firing them with iridized glass on top. Those leaves that come out of firing process well I then make into truly “one of a kin” works of art. My current favorites include Japanese maples, ginkgos, ferns, and holly.
